The heart of the city is undoubtedly formed by the four most famous canals, Prinsengracht, Keizersgracht, Herengracht and Singel, which date back to the 17th century and picturesquely frame the Red Light District in the centre.

A canal tour is a "must" for every visitor to Amsterdam. It is also worth taking a look at the windows of the houses, most of which are furnished in a very modern style and reflect the Dutch people's love of art.

You should definitely visit the fascinating Anne Frank House. Eight Jews hid in the rear of the building for two years during the Second World War. Anne Frank kept a diary during this time.

Another highlight is the NEMO science museum by Renzo Piano, which opened in 1997. The building is reminiscent of a ship's hull and is surrounded by water on three sides. From the roof you have a great view of the city centre.

The Rijksmuseum is the largest art museum in the Netherlands and houses "The Masterpieces" of 17th century golden age painting. For example, you can see the painting "The Jewish Bride" by Rembrandt.
